Newsflash: Not everyone should be on social media all of the time. In fact, there are many times when you should step away from the Twitter.
Don’t tweet when…
- You’re in a bad mood.
- You have nothing to say.
- You’re feeling stabby.
- You’ve been drinking.
- You want to lash out at someone.
Just put down the phone. Step away from Tweetdeck. It will be there in a couple of hours. You will have recovered and will write something meaningful but without malice. And you’ll thank me.
Remember: the Internet never forgets.
Great advice, Mary.
Thanks, Jan. I see people making this mistake every single day. Ugh. It’s so easy to avoid.
Great advice, Mary. And Glad to see you with a blog. Adding yours to my blog roll and subscribing to it, too.

Thanks, Jeff. I’ll add yours to mine as soon as I can figure out how to do that. lol
I don’t use Twitter. Who has time for it? I have my hands full with my blog and Facebook. Not to mention my job and the million and one chores at home. Good advice though, especially not to tweet when you’re intoxicated 🙂
Thanks, Katley. I know what you mean about not having the time for Twitter. I don’t always have time, either, especially recently. Funny how life just gets in the way.
I try to make a little time for Twitter when I can because the medium provides me with a lot of value: I’ve met some of the greatest people there and I get links to great articles.
Where would you say that you find you get the most value for the time you spend, Katley?
Ah c’mon you’re ruining all of my twitter fun 😉
Seriously though sometimes people on twitter need a little rude awakening that they’re doing it wrong. As for drunk tweets, I have a completely separate incognito account for that. LOL
I’m a bit of a buzz kill, huh, Derek? Thanks for the comment.
